The Family, a small collection of handmade solid wood furniture, has been designed and built in Berlin. It was presented for the first time during Tent London. A first-time collaboration with artist Laure Garcia Castelli took place during the weekend of 20 and 21 September, in the form of a spiral carpet made out of braided fabric rests, as complement to the simple units of furniture.
Made entirely of solid wood, The family features a Sideboard, a bench and two free-standing shelves. Special attention has been given to simple joinery details, which constitute the expression of the object and the basic structural solutions for all of them. They offer usability on two, three or four sides. Exposed wood details include half lap joints, wooden dowels, wood-wood sliding guides, door panels, and a vertical lattice.
